Our Mission

The Special Services department encompasses three unique programs.  These programs include Special Education, Dyslexia, and Section 504.  Special Education is an integral part of the total instructional program of the district.  A continuum of services is provided to meet the needs of students.  The Special Education Department fosters independent living skills through a rigorous, nurturing learning environment coupled with high quality instruction and support services that enable all students to reach their full potential.  In addition, it promotes inclusion and supports students with disabilities in gaining college and career readiness.    The Dyslexia Program promotes the use of compensation strategies, therapy and educational support to individuals with dyslexia to concede their ability to read and write.  Through Section 504, a part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the district is required to meet the needs of students with disabilities to be met as adequately as the needs of the non-disabled are met.  We embrace that ALL students can learn and will be successful in our schools with instruction that is geared to their strengths and given sufficient opportunity to learn.
